ABOUT THE LONG FLAT PUB

The locals tell us the first liquor licence for the pub was granted in 1875 with it officially opening in 1876. Edward Henry found the iconic fig tree as a sapling on a turkey shooting trip in scrub behind the town and planted it beside his father’s hotel in 1880. Imagine the stories it could tell!
Originally called the Travellers Rest Hotel, people just kept calling it the Long Flat Pub… so in 2022, we changed the name and made it official.
Sitting on 10 acres of land along the Hastings River, Long Flat is located about 50km west of Port Macquarie on the Oxley Highway - one of the best motorcycle rides in the country. So yes, you’ll often see a few bikes lined up out front and riders swapping stories in the bar.
The pub itself is the original single building with public bar, lounge, pool room, bistro and big beer garden perfect for live music, kids to run around and lazy afternoons. There’s also 7 pub style accommodation rooms with shared bathroom and kitchen facilities.
Down the hill is where you’ll find the campground with plenty of peaceful, flat, riverside spots where you can pitch a tent, park the van or just hang out under the stars. Don’t forget your fishing rod or kayak - the river’s right there and the views are hard to beat.
Whether you’re here for a feed, a cold one, or a weekend escape, you’ll find old school hospitality and a proper Aussie welcome waiting at the Long Flat Pub.
